Art of Soap Making 101The Art of Soap Making will be taught by Steve Cromwell and Jo Ann TakushiIn this hands-on workshop, under the guidance of the instructors, each participant will make 1 1/2 pounds of high quality, environmentally pure soap for personal use.  The workshop will include discussion of the history of soap, its physical properties, how soap cleans, and the chemical process called ‘saponification’.

The soap-making practicum will cover equipment needed, ingredients, as well as safety precautions and protocols.  Materials fee for the workshop includes: safety goggles, rubber gloves, soap making ingredients, an instructional booklet covering two methods of soap making, and a container that will hold your final soap solution.  Participants should wear or bring old clothes and an old bath towel for transporting the soap home.

The morning session runs from 9:30-1:00. Enrollment is limited to ten (10) participants.
